# Is this the right profile?

The line of small grey text at the very top, under the symbol name.

{% hint style="warning" %}
**The common misreading.** Treating a profile as a property of the symbol. It isn't. It's a property of the symbol **on that broker, on that account type, over that window**. A EURUSD profile from somewhere else will not describe your EURUSD.
{% endhint %}

### What's in the header

```
2022.07.05 → 2022.10.28 · Doo Technology Singapore Pte. Ltd. · Standard · real_ticks · schema 1.15 / v1.23
```

**The window.** The dates the measurement covers. Everything in the report describes this stretch of history and nothing else.

**The broker.** Where the spread and swap figures came from. The server name — `DooTechnology-Live` in the sample — is in the footer at the bottom of the report.

**The account type.** Standard, Raw, ECN and so on. Account type usually changes the spread and commission balance completely, so a Standard-account profile tells you very little about a Raw account at the same broker.

This one is **typed in by whoever ran the profile**, not detected. Nothing checks it. If it says Standard, that's because someone said so.

**Data quality.** `real_ticks` means the tick value was calibrated against the terminal's own P\&L engine, what you want. `tick_value_approximate` means calibration failed and the symbol's reported tick value was used instead, so every dollar figure is less trustworthy. The tick figures are fine either way.

**Schema and version.** The format version of the file and the version of the Profiler that wrote it. The current Profiler is v1.23, which writes schema 1.15. You can ignore both until they matter. See below.

### The badges

To the right of the symbol:

| Badge                                                                | What it says                                                                                                                                                                                                                    |
| -------------------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **TRADEABLE** / **MARGINAL** / **COST CONSTRAINED** / **NOT VIABLE** | The verdict. See [The Verdict](/products/asset-profiler/the-verdict.md).                                                                                                                                                        |
| **NEUTRAL · MODERATE** | The directional bias measured over the window: a direction (**LONG**, **SHORT** or **NEUTRAL**) and a strength (**STRONG**, **MODERATE** or **RANGING**). See [Directional Bias](/products/asset-profiler/directional-bias.md). |
| **cost tolerance 35% · target 35%** | The two model settings the report was calculated with — how much of the target you'll let costs eat, and how big that target is as a share of the step. |

### Three things worth checking before you trust the numbers

**Is the broker yours?** If you're reading a profile someone else produced, the spread and swap figures are theirs. The volatility and retrace figures still transfer. Those are properties of the market. The cost figures don't.

**Is the account type yours?** Same point, more often missed. A Raw account with tighter spread and higher commission can land in a completely different place on cost.

**Is the window still relevant?** A profile from a year ago describes a year-ago market. See [When to re-profile](/products/asset-profiler/when-to-re-profile.md).

### If you see an "older export" banner

An amber bar at the top of the report means the file was written by a much earlier Profiler version than the portal expects. Panels that need newer fields are hidden rather than guessed at.

Everything still shown is accurate. But re-running the EA gets you the complete report, and it's a one-minute job.

### If the step range says "(estimated)" or asks for a re-run

Under the practical step range the report gives the same range as a **Minimum Step Size** value, the number Hydra Vision reads (see [Ticks, pips and price](/products/asset-profiler/ticks-pips-and-price.md) for the units). Profiles made with Profiler v1.22 or older don't carry the unit that conversion needs:

* Where the portal can work the unit out from the symbol name, it shows the value with **(estimated)** beside it.
* Where it can't (a symbol it doesn't recognise by name, or a currency pair the older Profiler treated as non-FX), it shows a note asking you to re-run the profile with Asset Profiler v1.23 instead of a value.

Either way, re-running the window with v1.23 replaces the estimate with the exact figure.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Why the version numbers are there.** The formulas behind the report change as the model improves. Recording the version means a profile you ran six months ago is still comparable to one you run today. You can see whether the asset changed, or just the model did.
{% endhint %}

### What to do with this

* Check broker and account type match yours before you use any cost figure.
* Re-run if you see the older-export banner.
* Keep the filename intact — symbol, window and broker are the profile's identity.
